Carnival Calendar

There's more to Carnival than Venice: Wallonia and Brussels also boast a great tradition!

Carnival is a remnant of the old winter masquerade when people went through the streets wearing flamboyant costumes and fancy masks.

Many Walloon towns - Tournai, Malmedy, Nivelles and Ath - pride themselves on a carnaval procession and personas, such as the extraordinary Gilles of Binche Carnival and the Blancs Moussis Carnival of Stavelot listed under the UNESCO heritage.

Walloons love their Carnival!

As diverse as they are exciting, this array of parades won't fail to amuse you. Choose among laetare Sundays, patron's celebrations, processions and bonfires for an exciting and popular experience.

Get to have fun with the locals, chat to them and discover the Walloon identity and their authentic traditions, making your stay in Wallonia a camp and unforgettable one.

Celebrate the end of winter and the coming of spring with myriads of confettis!
