Discover Belgium
Belgium (What makes Belgium so Special ... ) is sometimes described as a complicated little country whose existence can be called a miracle. This image, however, is far from complete and forgets the most important thing: the indescribable charm of its inhabitants and the many surprises that await you there. Always in a cosy atmosphere and at reasonable prices, you can taste our regional gastronomy (Belgium's Gourmet Cuisine and Gastronomy), learn new things during your visit of museums (Easy Passports) or unusual places that abound in Brussels and Wallonia.
You will certainly be delighted by the 1001 treasures that are gathered in Brussels, in the heart of the Royal Museums for Fine Arts of Belgium - Antoine Wierz Museum (IXELLES), Royal Museums of Fine Arts: Museum of Ancient Art (BRUXELLES), BOZAR - Turn of the Century Museum (BRUXELLES) or the MUSEUM FOR JAPANESE ART - ROYAL MUSEUMS FOR ART AND HISTORY (LAEKEN), MIM - The Musical Instruments Museum (BRUXELLES), Cinquantenaire Museum - Royal Museums of Art and History (BRUXELLES), Museums of the Far East - Royal Museums for Art and History, Brussels (LAEKEN), Horta-Lambeaux Pavillion - The Pavillion of Human Passions (BRUXELLES) Halle Gate - Royal Museums of Art and History (BRUXELLES).
Why don’t you visit a house built by Architect Horta (Horta Museum (SAINT-GILLES)) where the Belgian Comic Strip Centre - BCSC (BRUXELLES) is housed in an Art Nouveau decor?
Although there are 10,000 places left to visit, you shouldn’t leave Brussels without visiting the magical Royal Greenhouses in Laeken (LAEKEN), the surprising The Atomium - a Monument and Symbol of Brussels Built for Expo 58 (LAEKEN), miniature Europe Mini-Europe (LAEKEN), and of course Manneken Pis (BRUXELLES) and the sumptuous The Grand-Place in Brussels (BRUXELLES) where numerous events take place all year round (The Ommegang, Brussels' oldest pageant (BRUXELLES)).
Let’s go down to the south of this little Belgium, where everything is close at hand, but o so different. Wallonia has some nice surprises in store for us!
The stately Lion Mound of Waterloo (WATERLOO) tells us about history and about Napoleon, you simply cannot ignore it! Afterwards you can get your mind off things and experience strong emotions with friends or family in Walibi Belgium Fun Park. With friends or family, waliby is where you want to be! (WAVRE). You will also discover other “musts”, which the children will adore: Plopsa Coo - The Theme Park in the Belgian Ardennes (STAVELOT), The Eau d'Heures Lakes, the Largest Lakes in Belgium (BOUSSU-LEZ-WALCOURT), the Pairi Daiza animal park: take a trip around the world (BRUGELETTE), the The Pass - The Scientific Adventure Park (FRAMERIES), the Han Grottoes (HAN-SUR-LESSE), and the The Hydraulic Lifts of the Historic Canal du Centre (HOUDENG-GOEGNIES).
If you love heritage, you will find the perfect destination in Belgium: from castles or fortresses (the Estate of the Seneffe Castle - Silver Museum (SENEFFE), the Bouillon Castle and its Birds of Prey Show (BOUILLON)), abbeys (the Maredsous Abbey and St Joseph Visitors' Centre (DENEE), the Stavelot Abbey, tourism and culture (STAVELOT), and the Villers-la-Ville Abbey, one of the most beautiful architectural sites in Europe (VILLERS-LA-VILLE)) to the citadelles (the Citadel (DINANT) and the The Citadel of Namur (NAMUR)).
The only thing left for us, is to make a few recommendations: the International Carnival and Mask Museum (BINCHE), the MAC's - Museum of Contemporary Art of the French-speaking Community (HORNU), the MUSEUM OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART (MAMAC) (LIEGE), the Annevoie Gardens (ANNEVOIE-ROUILLON), and the Liège Archeoforum - Ardent City Remnants & Archeological Museum (LIEGE).
After all this excitement, what would you think about a good night’s rest in one of our charming Hotels or Cottages and guest rooms?
