How to get around
Get around with public transport, on foot, by bike or car. Brussels and Wallonia boast an excellent public transport system.
On foot
Get your hands on a map of the city as soon as you arrive: you can find free copies in most hotels as well as at the Tourism Information centre on the Grand Place in Brussels.
For online maps visit (Maps - Welcome to De Rouck), or Mappy - Road Guide), (Mappy - Road Guide), which also includes itineraries on foot, as well as pointing out roads and alleys where cars are not allowed.
Public transport
The local transport system is called STIB. The full network of bus, tram and metro is diplayed on their website so you can easily plan your itinerary.
Single fare (€1.80 for a 60 mins ride on buses, trams and metro combined), 5 journeys (€7.50), 10 journeys (€11.80), daily ticket (€6) or 24-48-72 hour tickets. Please note that tickets must be purchased prior to mounting on any public transport. Tickets are on sale on board buses and trams, but are considerably more expensive. You can find ticket machines outside main stations and at some tram stops.

On top of that, trains are extremely cheap, and you cal also ask for special tarifs on weekends (from Friday evening to Sunday evening) or purchase a GoPass if you're under 26 (10 journeys for €50) or a RailPass for 26+ (10 journeys for €74).
Taxi
In the Brussels region there are around 1300 taxis, 81 of which are adapted to persons with reduced mobility. You can also hire a car with a driver.
