Ministry of the German-speaking Community

The German-speaking Community is located at the East end of the province of Liège. It includes nine towns: Kelmis, Eupen, Lontzen, Raeren, Bütgenbach, Büllingen, Amel, Sankt Vith and Burg Reuland.
Within the Ministry of the German-speaking Community, the Directorate for Cultural Affairs is responsible for Tourism. As for holiday apartments (Ferienwohnung – gemeubileerde vakantiewoning – holiday apartment), only entities overseen by the Ministry for the German-speaking Community are entitled to use the appellation protected by the Community’s Decree of 20 november 1992. A sign at the entry of the furnished accommodation is a guarantee for the tourist that it has been inspected.
The classification of holiday apartments into categories, from 1 to 4 ears, is done by Decree from the German-speaking government from 20 May 2006. This classification strongly conforms to the norms established by the Commissariat Général au Tourisme of the Walloon Region. The classification of the accommodation takes into account the quality of the accommodation’s location, the impression of the whole, the fitting-out, the material, and the interior decoration. Possible complaints or remarks are dealt with by the Ministry. We wish you a pleasant stay in our hospitable region!
