Kitted out in your jackets and helmets, you take the miners’ lift down to the galleries between 30m and 60m underground, which have been preserved as they were the day the mine closed down.

You will see and hear the noisy coal-cutting machines, the coal and the hard working conditions endured by our “Black Faces”.

After returning to the surface, you will follow the coal through the sorting and washing processes before it is ready to be delivered and sold.
