These Italian "bella macchina" bearing the trident logo celebrate their 100 year anniversary at Autoworld!

    A bit of history

Maserati is the product of 7 passionate brothers.

Even before starting their work in Bologna in 1914, the Maserati brothers had already built engines.

In fact, Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto, were not only producing car engines, but aeroplane engines too, and were trying their luck at racing cars.

In 1914, the workshop concentrated on the maintenance and tuning of racing cars and the production of their renowned spark plugs.

It was Mario (one of the brothers) who created the logo, the trident, which was based on one of the symbols of the city of Bologna: the trident of the Neptune statue.

It would take, however, until 1925 for the logo to appear on the first Maserati racing car: the Tipo 26.
