Admire the works of 19th century Belgian realist painter-sculptor, Constantin Meunier. At the Museum of Fine Arts from 20/09/14 to 11/01/15!

It is the first, full retrospective of his career since 1909 and will attempt to give a comprehensive and varied look at his work.

Particular attention is paid to the (less studied) paintings from the first few decades of his career: historical scenes, private portraits and portraits of religious orders.

As well as the paintings and bronze sculptures, a fascinating selection of drawings and sketches will be on display, along with a large collection of archived documents, catalogues, magazines and impressions.

Internationally known for having introduced industrial workers, miners and dockers into his pieces, Constantin Meunier has a view of man and the world that is engaged, full of compassion and inextricably linked to industry, social evolution and Belgian politics at the end of the 19th century.

Closed on Mondays and on 01/01, 10/01, 01/11, 11/11, 25/12.
