Saint-Lambert Folkloric March in Certfontaine

The Saint-Lambert Napoleontic Folkloric March on 15th August - 1st Empire. 400 participants.

Infantry: Sappers, Drummers and Fife players, Regimental Band, 2nd regiment of Grenadiers, Rifles, Bourgeois Veterans, Gunners, Light Infantrymen. March of young people. Cavalry (50 cavalrymen): Field Marshals, Grenadiers on horseback, the Empress' Dragons, Napoleon and his Chasseurs, Buglers and Timpanists.

7pm: Arrival of the Squadrons and the Companies on the Place de l'Eglise.

Origins of the Napoleonic Marches

Religious and marked by the Napoleonic era, the marches continued to evolve during the 20th century to what they are today.

From May to September every year, 20,000 people, dress up in traditional costumes. Each have their own traditions, customs and characteristics.

UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

The Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse marches are inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
