Visit a remarkable exhibition, as part of the 100-year anniversary commemorations of the First World War. In Liège from 02/08 to 31/05/15!

Wander through 4000m² of grandiose décor that puts you in the heart of the action, where sound and audiovisual documents await you. Not forgetting the outstanding works and plays also present.

An exhibition oozing with emotions

You will discover striking, authentic scenes, such as the soldier under enemy fire in a trench, or a resistance fighter facing a firing squad...

Various points of view are exhibited from leaders, soldiers, doctors and civilians etc. who recall the origins of conflict, the battles, healthcare, the resistance...which ends with the transformation of the country as part of the new world.

The course of events is chronological and thematic:

The chronology (countries being invaded, countries being occupied, countries being liberated, countries being transformed) fall within these points of view expressed.

The themes are as follows:

  • Prologue: The end of the Belle Epoque, war premises, the spark that set off the war.
  • Army leaders: Europe goes up in flames, resistance against the invader, a world war.
  • Soldiers: Mobilisation of the troops, soldiers from all over the world, from forts to the trenches, "trench art", God of the trenches, weapons, flying aces.
  • Doctors and medics: Suffering soldiers, treatment.
  • Artists: Artistic life in the war.
  • Resistance fighters: Resisting the enemy, the war, the Belgian press, death...
  • Victors: The USA go to war, the Russian evolution, the final offensives, peace treaties.
  • A new world.

Fundamental values such as peace (responsible for democracy), freedom, justice and solidarity are transmitted through a journey suitable for even the little ones.
