Visit a new exhibition illustrating the position of the region of Malmedy-Waimes during the First World War. On show at the Malmundarium in Malmedy until 18/01/2015.

Walloons at the service of the Kaiser!

The principal theme of the exhibition centres around historic events that made the region of Malmedy-Waimes a part of Belgian history. This major exhibition focuses on 2 major themes:

  • A historical introduction centred on the region of Malmedy-Waimes during the Rhine Province era before the incorporation of Belgium,

  • The progression of the First World War in the region through daily life, trenches, technological advances, battles on the Eastern front...

Follow in the footsteps of two soldiers

The exhibition leads visitors in the footsteps of two soldiers, one from Malmedy and the other from Waimes, to Verdun and to the East on the Russian front.

An audible and visual scenography, consisting of photographic reconstructions, archive documents, various period objects, among other things, from a French collector whose exhibition in Malmedy was the first to know about the exhibition, as well as other museums (Baugnez 44 Historical Centre, December 44 Museum in Gleize...) and the local residents.

The exhibition is also displaying a reconstruction of a trench.
