Van Gogh au Borinage is a major exhibit of Mons 2015 about Vincent Van Gogh. At the BAM in Mons, from 25/01 to 17/05/15.

During his stay in the Borinage region of the province of Hainaut from December 1878 to October 1880, Vincent Van Gogh gave up his life as an evangelist to become an artist.

The exhibition lets you discover this period which forever changed the painter's life, as it was during his stay in this Walloon minig region that developped some of the ideas that would give rise to his later work.

Van Gogh in the Borinage

With some 70 paintings, drawings and letters by Van Gogh, the exhibition offers you a wonderful image of his different inspirations and integrates more than 20 works that the artist copied or which influenced his art.

The exhibition's aim is not to simply give you a vision of the start of his career as an artist, but also to present a view of what life was like in the Borinage region at the time of the painter's stay.

Tidy your room

At the heart of the Van Gogh au Borinage exhibition, children from 5 years old are invited to take part in the 3D recreation of one of the great artist's pieces.

La Chambre (The Room) awaits only them to colour the space using multi-coloured stickers.
