La Carte du Feu - Exhibition at Rance Museum of Marble

Discover and admire close to 4900 representations inspired by photos from the "Carte du Feu" (Fire Card). In the Rance Museum of Marble from 01/08 to 15/09/14.


The book of fire cards contains names and photos of Belgian veterans of the Great War, holders of a fire card, their place of residence, in addition to their grade and their honorary distinctions.

The artist has re-done their portraits using a technique, a combination of techniques and various materials such as, drawing, painting, collages, watercolours and an interplay of textures and colours.

On the occasion of First World War commemorations, the museum is also displaying:


  • An exhibition on articles, souvenirs and local documents from 01/08/14 to 01/04/2015.

  • A conference lead by Mr. Ph. Albessart: "L'arrivée des Allemands à Rance, le 25 août 1914" (The arrival of the Germans in Rance on 25th of August 1914) at the Museum of Marble on Saturday 9th August at 4pm (free entry).

  • A conference lead by Mr. M. C. Sol: "Sivry brûle les 25 et 26 août 1914" (Sivry burns on 25th and 26th of August 1914) at the Museum of Marble on Saturday 23rd August at 4pm (free entry).

The exhibition is created by Mr. Dany Delepière.


Practical information


Open Tuesday to Friday 9am-4pm, Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 1-6pm.
During school holidays Tuesday to Saturday 10am-6pm. Closed on Mondays.
