Quand la lumière se fait symbole - Christmas Illuminations in Thuin
The Christmas illuminations will take vegetal and fluvial form in Thuin this year. Discover why on 20/12/13.
In truth, it's the day of information and entertainment that takes place on Friday 20 December, from 4pm, on Place du Chapitre. The Christmas lights will, of course, be staying throughout the Christmas period.
This day will let you discover the illuminations' 'colour codes' which will become recurring themes in the coming years!
As such, the vegetal aspect will be represented, among other ways, by the colour green for the upper town with a main vegetal feature that will evolve each year.
The fluvial aspect will be represented, among other things, by the colour blue for the lower town. The town's main shopping street, the Inland waterway museum, etc. will be illuminated for the occasion.
It goes without saying that all the entertainment is free.
First and foremost, the celebrations will take place at the town's belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Not only will Father Christmas be setting up his grotto on the belfry dungeon, but you can also go and visit him during the late-evening openings!
The carillon is at the disposal of children or professionals to perform genuine concerts in the presence of the bell artisan in charge.
Following that, balloon artists, magicians and face-painters will animate proceedings throughout the afternoon until 8pm.
At 6pm, there's an appearance from Lutin Proutt.
As for the inauguration, it takes place at 8pm and will see the unveiling of the main feature.
It promises to be an explosion of light and music.
Don't leave too early either, as festivities continue until 11pm.
