Saint Etienne Night in Bouffioulx
For over 10 years, the Dubois pottery organises this traditional and secular celebration with the master brewers. In Bouffioulx, 26/12/13.
For 24 hours, visitors can discover an extraordinary heritage and know-how that's unique in Belgium: the cooking method of a traditional pottery kiln.
Give yourself up to the magic of this exceptional show held in a warm and classical setting.
This event is a meeting place for lovers of art, artisan craft and heritage, and supports an activity that guarantees the care and safekeeping of a traditional pottery kiln.
The Dubois pottery is celebrating its 144th birthday.
It was in 1866 that J-F Crame, himself the son of a potter, created his own workshop in a farm in the heart of Bouffioulx, that family workshop's current headquarters.
Open baking on Sunday 26 December from 4am and goes on into the night of the 27 December, finishing with a salt glazing.
From 4am in the morning: lighting of the kiln in an exceptional atmosphere.
From 12 noon to 2pm: musical aperitif and meal
1:30pm: the Société Royale d'Histoire "Le Vieux Châtelet" presents its work on "150 years of terracotta in Bouffioulx, Châtelet and Châtelineau from 1850 to 2000".
3pm to 5pm: "Vins faire un pot!" Inter-generational workshop. Learn modelling and the different techniques for working clay. This activity is free.
From 7pm: Dinner. Musical entertainment from the "Louisiana Dixie Band". Booking is necessary and the deadline for bookings is 23 December 2013. Limited number of seats.
Salt glazing scheduled for the night of 27 December 2013. The finished potteries will be taken out of the kiln on 30 and 31 December 2013 from 10am.
