For the last six centuries, the book has experienced multiple deep transformations. Discover them in Brussels from 22/02 to 26/05/13!
Between the invention of the printer press by Gutenberg and its dematerialisation, "Six Centuries of the Art of Books - From Incunabulum to Artist's Book" retraces this fascinating history using exceptional volumes.
The volumes are kept at the Museum of Letters and Manuscripts in Brussels and their unique details (binding, paper, illustrations, typography) make them rare and precious pieces.
From sumptuously adorned medieval books of hours to artists' books (a real field of experimentation for creators) from the 20th century, via the incunabula from the beginnings of printing and the spectacular portolans!
More than a hundred pieces are presented in this tribute to the beauty and richness of the book, considered to be an art form in its own right.
An exhibition that's not to be missed!
