Discover the atmosphere and lives of the zinc miners of the 19th century thanks to texts, tools, objects, photos, etc. In Brussels from 31/01 to 25/05/14.

This exhibition focuses on an exceptional pieces from the era (1868): Louis-Alexandre Saint-Paul de Sinçay, director of zinc mine of Moresnet, commissioned three photo albums, which today are listed treasures of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

The company photo albums contain photos of workers and employees of the Vieille-Montagne (Moresnet), posing with their work clothes and tools.

This act of photography can seem anodine today, but it was unheard of in those days. It shows the birth of a genuine company culture.

With each portrait, you will discover these zinc workers of yesteryear and their role in the technological process.

The exhibition will also reveal the zinc working of factories today.

Educational activities will accompany the exhibition, which is in the three official languages of Belgium (French, Dutch and German) and is organised by the Maison de la Métallurgie et de l'Industrie de Liège.
