The Butchers' Fraternity was founded in 1591 and later disbanded during the French Revolution. It was successfully revived in 1958. During the festivities of the Fraternity, the butchers who come from the four corners of Belgium and from other neighbouring countries, together with the butchers' schools, march through the streets of the town, dressed in their work clothes, apron and white bonnet, sharpening steels at their waists, carrying their Patron Saint on their shoulders. According to legend, butchers were among the assassins of Saint Lambert (the Bishop of who was succeeded by Saint Hubert). Because Saint Hubert pardoned them, he was chosen as their protector.
10h: parade of fraternities through the town - 11h: grand solemn mass accompanied by the sound of the hunting horns of St Hubert.
