Biennial festival ARTour showcases remarkable heritage domains of the Walloon region. At various venues in Wallonia from 23/06 to 25/08/13.
The idea of integrating contemporary art exhibitions to architecturally, urban or historically important sites is a relatively new and unexplored concept.
In 2013, ARTour's theme will be Metamorphosis, the transformation of an element or being, into another element or being.
A section inspired by the collections of the International Carnival and Mask Museum of Binche will also be present at the biennial this year.
The public come out in force to this event that combines a tourist walk with artistic discovery. One can find, as well as lovers of the plastic arts, individual visitors, families, people out for a Sunday stroll, tourists from abroad who have come to see, for example, the hydraulic boat lifts of the Canal du Centre.
Every two years, ARTour brings together some 15 or so artists at a dozen venues (museums, castles, public buildings, industrial buildings, parks, etc.)
The ARTour biennial combines contemporary art and heritage and takes place in the Centre region of the Hainaut and on the territory of the Parc des Canaux et Châteaux (Canals and Castles Park).
With the 2013 theme of 'Metamorphosis', the proposed exhibitions and creations of this 9th edition will tackle different points of view.
This event takes place every two years, on odd years.
