7th Nuit des Chercheurs!
Theme for 2012: ’Science in the home’
Scientists will reveal the omnipresence of science in our daily environment, even in the most unexpected places.
Numerous activities will be on offer in six different locations, including:
- two in Brussels:
- the Botanique and the Planétarium,
- and four in Wallonia:
- the Médiacité in Liège,
- Collège du Biéreau in Louvain-la-Neuve, the
- Hôtel de Ville in Mons,
- and the Brasserie de l'Eden in Charleroi.
The central location will be the Botanique, 236 Rue Royale, 1210 Brussels.
Combining introduction and interactivity, scientists will revolutionise the traditional conception of science with performances involving researchers, dancers, musicians, calligraphists and video directors, treasure hunts, digital games and interactive workshops on themes such as algae-derived biofuels, chemistry in the kitchen and the bathroom, and the house of the future.
This event is free.
The event will open to the public at 6 p.m. The afternoon of 28 September will be reserved for schools.
In addition, a competition, 'Dessine la Science dans la maison' (Drawing science in the home), will offer the designers and inventors of tomorrow the opportunity to win a number of prizes divided into three age groups: 6 to 11 years old, 12 to 17 years old and 18 plus.
