Featuring on UNESCO's World Heritage List, the Bois du Cazier colliery is a hot-spot for heritage and history in Wallonia.
The Bois du Cazier, recently classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is home to the Industry Museum, Glass Museum and the 8th August 1956 Site.
Thanks to the many games which are available, your children will discover the richness of our heritage and learn about history, geography, economy, social sciences... all that while having fun!
Fun for children
At the Industry Museum and Glass Museum, you can discover jobs from the olden days thanks to working blacksmiths, founders and glass blowers. The 8th August 1956 Site is dedicated to the Marcinelle mining tragedy and immigration.
- Children aged 6 to 12 love:
The "little miner's booklet", a game allowing them to discover the site through questions and answers, a hunt for clues and colouring games.
The "Melting Pot", a treasure hunt where they look for clues through the Glass Museum's collection.
- Teenagers love:
Discovering history, geography, social sciences, economy, ... in a different way to school!
Understanding immigration and integration through an interactive multimedia post, in resonance with the museums in New York and Gênes.
Around the Bois du Casier site, three slagheaps converted into paths have a special ecosystem of rocks, fossils, flora and fauna.
