At the heart of the Lion's Hamlet, the Memorial 1815 plunges you back in time into the history and atmosphere of the Battle of Waterloo.

This majestic building is buried at the foot of the Lion's Mound to give you smooth, clear view of the battlefield. More than just a museum, the 1815 Memorial is a truly immersive experience which reveals to you the events that lead up to the historic battle which changed the course of European history forever.

Armed with an audio guide and the help of a soldier from your preferred army, you will be lead along an 1815 m² voyage on which you will discover the historical context of Europe in the 19th century.

You will also get the possibility to infiltrate the armies as they travel to Waterloo to reach the final bivouac before the battle. The narrative tour is complemented by numerous collective objects, uniforms, animated maps and even augmented reality animations.

You will then witness one of the highlights of the visit, a film by Gérard Corbiau called "Au cœur de la Bataille" (At the heart of the Battle), projected on a 3D panoramic screen.

Your visit ends at nightfall, as you follow in the footsteps of the allied victory over the French forces. You will also learn of the consequences of the battle of Waterloo and the impact it had on the rebuilding of Europe.
