If you are a lover of art and beautiful objects, and are looking for the ideal place to take your partner, this museum is a real must.
After collecting items of all sorts for four decades, including objects in ivory, Japanese prints, contemporary paintings, bronze sculptures and curious objects, Guy Martens, the owner and curator, finally decided to unveil his treasure to the public.
A source of inspiration"The word erotica comes from the Greek god Eros. The idea is to show what is sacred about love" explains the charming collector, while taking you around the museum himself and telling you the history of each one of the pieces, some of which dating back as far as 4500 BC.
You'll be surprised to see the crafty mechanisms used in the old days to hide the naughty side of a sculpture, or how newly-wed couples were given instructive objects as presents.
The building has three floors, each with around 30m² of exhibition space, and is located in the exclusive Sablon area, an ideal setting for a cultural and romantic visit.
Be prepared for a tour in the world of eroticism and mythology, all of which explained with detail and charm.
