Come and discover the Museum of Country Life and Old Crafts in Estinnes-au-Mont. Learn through period objects how our ancestors lived.

This municipal museum is only accessible by reservation. Situated in Estinnes-au-Mont, in the Binche region, it can be found in the setting of a former presbytery from 1786.

The museum presents an outstanding collection of over 5000 pieces. From typical furniture, tools and utensils and various craft objects illustrating the hardships experienced by those living through that era.

The museum visit in a few words

The interior of the Museum of Country Life and Old Crafts has also been reconstructed, and as such, you will be able to see the everyday life of social classes at the start of the century.

A room takes visitors through the history of flatiron and weights and measures. In the attic, a school classroom from the beginning of last century has also been reconstructed.

Upstairs, you will be able to discover the "Salle Danneau", dedicated to the hat trade, in addition to the "Espace Froissart" dedicated to the famous author from the Middle Ages, who was the priest of Estinnes for 10 years.

At the back of the museum lies a floral arrangement, that is the "Jardin du Curé", open doors onto an airy space called "la Muchette" (walking path, amphitheatre, departure point for 2 marked out pedestrian walking routes of 6km or 12km, 2 sheds accommodating an important farming carting machine...)
