The Living Museum of the land of the Hills (La Hamaide) is the occasion to rediscover the ways of working the land as well as country life. For 35 years, the museum has been conserving items and presenting old knowhow to public. It was founded in 1974 under the name of Living Museum. Between tourism and permanent education, the Living Museum is a key place of the Land of the Hills tourism.
The old farm sheds of the 50's house the themes of harvest and working the land according to the season. Visitors can also walk through different rooms featuring the everyday life and craft industry in our countrysides. Finally, they can admire the exhibition of items found on the site of Count Lamoral of Egmont Castle.
The Living Museum also has a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions on themes linked with country life such as mills or bread, as well as a conference room, a library and the garden in which visitors will be able to admire the old indigenous species.
During the spring, Easter and All Saints' holidays: during the week, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Groups: Daily open by appointment (except Christmas and New Year). Day programmes or stays for all ages.
Crafts workshops. School classes. 1st Sunday in August: A summer day in Lahamaide from the 16th to the 19th century.
