The Mariemont park, created in the 16th century by Marie of Hungary whose name it still bears, was bought in the 19th century by an important dynasty of industrialists, the Warocqués. It is laid out in the English style, with lawns, lakes and foliage, age-old trees and exotic species, and fine sculptures side by side with the ruins of Charles of Lorraine's palace. Although nothing remains of the gardens of the past, few gardens have been so well restored and modernised than this one, including old magnificent beeches, fir trees... Rhododendrons and azaleas brighten the park during May, after which the super floral english garden takes over. The Mariemont Royal Museum, opened in 1975, replaces the 19th century chateau which was destroyed by a fire in 1960.

The park is open until 7 pm on Sundays and public holiday from May to August.
Museum OPEN daily except on Mondays that are not public holidays; from April to September from 10 am to 6 pm and from October to March from 10 am to 5 pm. CLOSED on 1 January and 25 December.
