Hastière Romanesque Abbey-Church and its Museum

The abbey-church dates back to the 11th century and has many interesting archaeological features.

The abbey-church features a Romanesque nave and tower from 1033-1035 and a Romanesque crypt and Merovingian sarcophagi.

The Gothic quire dates back to 1264 and there are several 12th-century wall paintings. There is also an extremely old statuary and stalls.

In the abbey-church's tower, there are archaeological objects from prehistory to Gallo-Roman times, pottery from the former abbey, religious ornaments and expressions of popular piety.

The exterior site includes an open-air museum of the remains of the former abbey. There is also a Medieval quay along the River Meuse.

Practical information

The abbey-church and its exterior are accessible to wheelchair-users.

Opening times may be modified (for example for religious services). Please contact the abbey in advance.
