Castle Eyneburg in Hergenrath is one of the most significant historical buildings in East Belgium. It is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Geul valley. It is said that the name "Eyneburg" derives from "Emmaburg". The legend is based on the supposition that Emma, the daughter of Charlemagne, met her lover Eginhard at the castle. In 1966 the castle became listed as a landmark due to a preservation order and in 2001 it was opened to the public.
Nowadays, the event calendar ranges from concerts, historical tournaments and markets. Upon request, special arrangements can be booked, such as workshops, seminars, wedding celebrations, birthday parties, and company events.
