The coalmine of the Bois-du-Luc, one of the oldest in Belgium, stopped its activities in June 1973. The inhabitants' determination has allowed the salvation of the workers' housing estate that was built between 1838 and 1853. Facing this estate, the mining museum allows you to discover the miners' life, their work, their hobbies and their hardships. The animation team offers you a guided visit across the different exhibition rooms, across the estate. You can also see a house from 1850, a 1900 classroom, the Castelain gallery, and most of all the impressive Saint-Joseph pit. A film projection and various publications complete your visit.
Closed on 25 and on 31/12, as well as on 01/01. Also closed during weekends in December and January.
All groups are guided free of charge. Individual visitors will also be accompanied. A film (FR or NL) is also presented.
