In 1793, Balthasar d'Ennetières et des Mottes, husband of Rose de Sainte-Aldegonde de Noircarme began building the existing château. The château was designed by Tournai architect Antoine-Joseph Payen le Vieux and was not completed until 1834-35. This imposing U-shaped building stands on a base surrounded on three sides by water. It is a two-storey quadrangular building with a fore-building at the centre of the frontage and the rear elevation cantoned with four rectangular towers. The fore-buildings and towers are two-and-a-half storeys high. All the floors are marked by cordons or cornices. The overall horizontal effect is reinforced by the attics with balustrades masking the roofs.
