Chip Shop - Friterie de le Gare d'Etterbeek

- Address:
Boulevard Général Jacques 263
1050 Brussels (IXELLES) - MAPS: Google Maps
With orange-tinted rays, the sun caresses the small red-brick wall of the Etterbeek station.
Morning trains haul commuters and students to and fro on platform 1 and 2. Not long ago they would stop at Pascal's, who sold sandwiches at the time, and beg him to start selling chips.
And then one day, he finally decided to listen to them and give it a try. Another historic chip shop, which used to stand just at the entrance to the station, "Chez Léon", had just closed down, hence opening up the market for Pascal.
More clients? Not necessarily. On the other hand, many of Léon's old clients insisted he take up where Léon had left off.
As, since Léon had left Etterbeek station, an entire legion of blue and white collars, school children and train workers were left morning the loss.
After a first experience in the family chip shop, the sandwich prince finally gave in. On 31 January 2011 he became the king of fries. Dressed in a "tomato soup" coloured uniform, he now graces boulevard Général-Jacques with his fried delights.
With more clients and more sleeping hours, the 80 year-old chap is delighted with his decision. And you should see the generous servings he hands out!
