The collections of the Prehistory are divided over 3 sections. The first illustrates the different stages in human activities from the beginning of man by means of a series of archaeological pieces that are characteristic for the great periods in prehistory.
The second section shows, grouped by period, archaeological material coming from excavations carried out by members of the "Service de Préhistoire" and by foreign collaborators.
The third section shows reconstructions of prehistoric objects by means of experimental pieces.
A series of casts that illustrate the most important stages in the physical evolution of man, complete the presentation of the archaeological collections.
The museum is located in the basement of the "Bâtiments de Philosophie et Lettres" (entrance via Quai Roosevelt, 1B, Building A4).
