Built on a rocky promontory, the Château César overlooks the River Escaut. Today in ruins, it was most probably built during the 13th century. Today its square layout with round corner towers is still perfectly clear. Much of its west and east curtain walls and two of its towers have also been preserved. It is built from limestone. The bond of the tower is more careful than that of the curtain walls with their arrow loops. However, a bevelled cordon runs along the building making the ensemble uniform.
