From the Plate Taille to the Val Joly, this bike ride reveals all the beauty of the Eau d'Heure lakes, a major nature and tourist site in Wallonia.
No sooner have we left the village, than the itinerary plunges into the countryside: Froidchapelle is surrounded by groves and fields as far as the eye can see.
A little after having travelled along the superb RAVeL towards Chimay, we join the lakes Véloroute: don't forget to pack your swimming costume! The intense greens of the pastures showcase the red brick of the isolated farms that we pasS along the way. Bathed in natural colours, the lakes ride uses pleasant secret roads.
The itinerary appears to not be too physical a challenge but there are, in reality, few flat sections. We climb and descend incessantly on our way to the Plate Taille lake. You can, of course, ride around the lake, using its RAVeL itinerary.
On our return journey, we take the time to stop in a cafe in the centre of Froidchapelle and sample the charms of this endearing region.
Asphalted RAVeL and country roads.
A 62 km round trip that links the Plate Taille and Val Joly lakes. As the start lies between the two destinations, you can cut the ride short. Either you go towards the Val Joly lake (a 46 km round trip), or you go towards the Plate Taille lake (an 18 km round trip). Please note that you can also complete a tour of the Plate Taille lake: an extra 15 km RAVeL route.
