The Château de La Hulpe - Forêt de Soignes Arrêt Vert trail lets you criss-cross the region on foot. The trail's starting point is accessible by train.

The trail's route is lined with wooded areas and crosses the country's three regions: Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels.

The trail begins at La Hulpe station and starts by crossing a residential area. This first section is still quite green despite this: you pass alongside "le Grand Etang", a lake in the centre of La Hulpe and a small nature domain on the banks of the "Argentine" stream.

Once you leave the village, you enter the unique surroundings of the Château de La Hulpe, with numerous lakes and, of course, the castle itself.

Setting off from the castle, you will also be able to see in the distance the edges of the Soignes forest, one of Belgium's largest forests. It stretched over all three of Belgium's regions.

The trail then enters the forest for a few hours.

The different routes

  • Shorter route: 14km
  • Longer route: 18km

What is Arrêt Vert?

The Arrêt Vert concept is simple enough: they always link one station to another or a bus stop to another. Take the train to one station and set off from there on a trail to the other station.

The aim is to leave your car at home and enjoy a day of walking or cycling.
