Second day of the girls' weekend in Brussels

Brunch with the girls in the Marolles nieghbourhood
Waking up is a tough. Good grief! Everyone thinks the same thing as we look at each other.
We all freshen up and soon we're ready to start our second day in Brussels.
As it's not very early, we decide to start with a brunch.
We agree on the Blabla & Gallery (point A on the map) at the heart of the Marolles. A classic spot, ideal for a lunch in the middle of the "new generation of Bruxellois" taking a stroll with friends or visiting family members. We make sure we try the house speciality: lemon meringue tart.
Hunting for bargains at the flea market
The Marolles is a lively neighbourhood wich is part of the soul of Brussels. On rue Haute and rue Blaes, we find lots of trendy decorative boutiques. These streets circle the place du Jeu de balle (point B on the map) where the famous daily flea market draws us in like a magnet.
On Sunday, the neighbourhood seems to be abandonded by its residents, the typical Brussels locals, and is swamped by bargain hunters and flea market lovers.
We walk to several great shopping spots (point C on the map) which we simply cannot resist! Clothes, unusual objects, jewellery, small gifts for our significant others...
Brussels Art for the ladies - surrealism and museums a-plenty
There's no way we were going to miss it, an essential visit in Brussels: the Magritte Museum (point E on the map) which offers no less than 200 of the legendary artist's works, including oil paintings, gouaches, drawings, sculptures, advertisements, music scores, vintage photographs and films.
Though delighted with our surreal visit, our thirst for culture has not yet been quenched and we decide to visit the Royal Museums of Fine Arts, on rue de la Régence, only a few steps from the Magritte Museum, where we want to take a look at the Stanley Kubrick exhibition that we've heard so much about.
Aside from this temporary exhibition, we explore the different rooms of the Museum of Ancient Art which houses the prestigious Memling, Bosch, Rubens and Breugel collections from the 15th to the 18th century. This exceptional museum hosts high-quality exhibitions all year-round.
We stop in the aisles of the Museum Shop which is well-stocked with art books, children's books, posters and other merchandising objects.
Time for a royal break
It's time for a little break at the nearby Parc Royal (point F on the map).
We stop for a moment infront of a bandstand where a classical music orchestra is playing and we decide to sit and relax in the grass and enjoy some of the waffles and chocolate that Brussels is so famous for.
It's the perfect moment to have a really good catch up and talk about Claire and David's upcoming wedding, Juliette's new appartment, and exchange stories about the last time we went to the cinema or the last concerts that we saw.
One thing is for sure, whenever we all get together, we're never short of things to say!
Ladies, tonight we're dining out in Brussels!
This evening, we've decided to take it a little easier and seeing as the sun is out and it's still warm, we set off to start the evening in the Saint-Boniface neighbourhood (point G on the map).
We pass a café-couture ... what a great concept ... we don't have that back at home.
The choice of terraces in the neighbourhood is huge so we start with Ultime Atome.
For dinner, naturally all 5 uf us cannot agree, we can't decide between three of the neighbourhood's classics: Italien restaurant Mano à Mano, the Belgo belge Brasserie and the Deuxième Elément Thai restaurant.
Brussels is bursting with restaurants and cuisine from all over the world.
In the end, we head to the Deuxième Element as the other two are already full. We don't regret it!
The dishes are delicious and we were able to et in the garden at the back of the restaurant.
It's great to know that there is a huge choice of resturants in Brussels where you can taste cuisines from all over the world.
